One of the questions we receive often is – How do you remember everything from your travels? Simple, we’ve superhuman memories!! Kidding. Honestly, we don’t remember everything. That’s humanly impossible, isn’t it?
However, we do follow a set of activities that serves as a memory aid when we finally sit down to blog about our travels.
Write In Notebooks!
We write, write & write. Make copious notes about your journey & your destination. We note down every experience & every emotion. Carry a journal, if you can but if not, use the Notes in your cell phone to do so.

We give proper titles & headings to our notes. Make notes of the names of places, highways/ roads, attractions, hotels & restaurants. We also note down the names of people who helped us in our travel or a guide or server whose service impressed us.
The journal/ cell phone notes will prove extremely handy later when you finally sit down to write the blog post. We reference our notes months later & reading them brings everything rushing back to memory.
At times, we even pick up brochures from our travels that help to jog our memories.
Realtime Research
Even if we’ve taken extensive notes, we still do a considerable amount of research while writing a post because practical information changes. E.g., the timings of a restaurant, the ticket price of an attraction etc.

Catalogue Photos
We doubt anybody travels anymore without clicking dozens of photographs. In our initial years, we used to click hundreds of photos too but now we’re choosier. We click what really strikes us.
Having a limited number of pictures makes it easy to catalogue them & to choose from while adding to a blog post. If we click from our phones, immediately after clicking, we go to the image details & add a note there, specifying the name of attraction/ dish/ etc. This captioning helps us find the right photograph easily.
If you click from your camera, as soon as you transfer to your laptop, make detailed folders – with day & destination mentioned. Now look, if we’ve hundreds of photos, this is going to be a mammoth task that we’ll never get around to doing.
So, choose quality over quantity!

Download & Backup
Almost everybody has clicked pictures on their cell phones & then forgotten them there. Memories fill, phones crash, phones need to be changed – there are many things that can go wrong with technology.
And with that go our precious captured memories! That’s akin to a heartbreak, isn’t it? Don’t let it be. We download photos from our mobile onto our laptop. Go a step further & backup the photos to an external hard disk.
Or, if transferring to a physical device is too much effort, we backup on the cloud. But backup you must!
Not everybody is interested in writing. We get it. But even if you want to put something up on Instagram (or any other social media), it always helps to have the information readily available.
While we follow the above steps diligently, there are times when omissions happen. E.g., there was no way we could click pictures when we were on a speedboat in Ooty. So, that remains firmly etched only in memory.
Happy prepping for blogging! & happy blogging!!
